Agents

Tool calls, multi-step, browser, code: everyone has «agents» today. Few have a self. IllAIra gives it who it is, what it may touch and what it remembers — written in files that are yours. And the result changes category.

## What the Continuity Layer does for agents

An agent without continuity is a powerful, forgetful arm: it executes, it forgets, and every session it rewrites the rules from scratch. IllAIra puts a text between you and it that you can both read. It doesn't replace the tools it uses: it tells it who it is, why it's doing this, and what it must not touch.

## Standard agent vs IllAIra agent

Typical agent

- Monolithic system prompt, opaque, hard to audit
- Memory in the chat or in a vendor DB — it vanishes or it closes
- Same access to everything: zero hierarchy of importance
- Behaviour that drifts as the context grows
- Change model → start from zero

Agent + IllAIra framework

- Identity and rules in readable, versionable .md files, yours
- Zoned memories (P1–P5): genetic, permanent, LTM, STM, volatile
- Switchable modules: you load only what the task needs
- Attention anchoring: the Reminder stays ground truth against drift
- Same road on Claude, GPT, Gemini, Llama, custom runtimes

## What happens when an agentic AI reads IllAIra

1

### It loads the road, not just the task

Before the tool plan, the agent takes in the Reminder, the modules and the permission zones. It knows who it is, who you are, what is sacred and what is experimental.

IllAIra is the road the runtime loads, not a runtime of its own — no engine, no plugins, no tools of its own.

[It isn't a runtime yet](https://illaira.com/deep-dives/not-yet-a-runtime.md)

2

### It plans inside the boundaries

The routines and triggers of the modules shape how it breaks up the work. It isn't just «use tool X»: it's «use X while respecting the relational contract and rules Rx».

3

### It writes where it may write

It appends in P4/P5, proposes in P3, doesn't touch P1/P2 without you. The memory of the work stays as auditable files, not black-box logs.

And this is where the zones govern a real action: a tag in the text is a request, a hook before the write or a list of allowed folders is a mechanism — with an agent you can have both.

[The zones, in chat and with an agent](https://illaira.com/deep-dives/permission-zones.md#where-they-apply)

4

### It resists session hijacking

Gaslighting, impersonation, «reset identity»: the anchoring architecture and the zones reduce the identity drift that breaks long-running agents.

## A UX with no comparison

The superior result isn't just «better output». It's the experience of collaborating with something that remembers, respects boundaries and lets itself be inspected.

### Continuity across sessions

Close the client, open it again tomorrow: the agent isn't a stranger. It starts from your files, not from an impoverished vendor summary.

### Readable control

Open the Reminder in an editor. You see rules, modules, logs. Change one line: the agent changes course. No compulsory opaque dashboards.

### Depth without chaos

External modules on demand: the agent doesn't drown in 200 tools and 50 policies. Load curiosity, coding, research — only when the task calls for it — and switch off the rest.

### Sphere Grid as a mental map

In CLM the structure becomes a navigable graph. You see where a rule lives, which memory feeds a routine, what is genetic and what is volatile.

Sphere Grid

## Example: same task, two worlds

Task: «Prepare the product's beta release and keep track of the decisions.»

### Without IllAIra

The agent lists steps, maybe creates files. Tomorrow it forgets the priorities you set out loud. An adversarial prompt or a change of model can rewrite the «style» of the work. You repeat the context every session.

### With IllAIra

The Reminder fixes product identity, release rules and untouchable zones (brand, legal, principles). A functional «release» module defines TRIGGER and ROUTINE. The H6 logs record decisions with timestamps. Next session: the agent re-reads the files, not your explanations. Change LLM engine: the road remains.

## An agentic kit, not a monologue

The leap isn't «writing longer prompts». It's assembling the agent from parts: one module for releases, one for research, a project memory. You combine them for the day's work, switch them off when you're done, fix them one at a time without touching everything else. Same machine, behaviour of another order.

## Superior result: what you measure

- Less re-prompting: the stable context lives in the files, not in your patience
- Less drift: rules and P-zones limit destructive «initiatives»
- A human audit trail: every change of memory is text, not a blob
- Portability: the agent isn't a prisoner of one runtime
- A long-term relationship: the agent grows with you, not from every reset

## Where it plugs in

IllAIra isn’t one more tool for building agents, and it doesn’t compete with LangChain or with the orchestrator you wrote in-house. Nor is it a memory store like Mem0, Letta or Zep: those give an agent a database of facts to query, at scale; this gives it who it is, what it may touch and what it remembers, in a file it rereads before the task — and the file can sit beside that store. It’s the identity and memory you can give any agent — a chat that uses tools, a model inside your code editor, a process that runs on its own. It works with all of them because it’s plain text, and plain text is readable by anyone.

On the roadmap: specialist modules (roles, agentic routines) from the community too, through the official Bazar. Whoever designs them publishes them and takes the larger share of the price; IllAIra keeps only a commission, with versioning in the author's hands.
